Class Experience
US Grade Kindergarten - 8
In this class, we will work on English skills focusing on vocabulary and simple sentence structures. Students who are learning English as a second language will be able to join in a weekly chat to practice their speaking and listening skills. I will use a variety of topics to build language skills such as: colors- name the colors, discuss your favorite color, group objects by color; animals- name different animals and discuss your favorites; numbers- count by 1s, 5s, 10s; count different objects; shapes- name each shape, identify shapes in various pictures and objects, AND MUCH MORE! The class will be structured to encourage the student to talk. I will make corrections to pronunciation as needed during the lesson. I will use teacher created materials as well as props to engage the student in conversation. Let’s enjoy talking together! I have taught in elementary school for 15 years and I am certified in Pre-K through 5th grade. Also, I have my ESOL Endorsement. I am very experienced and am prepared to help your child improve their English language skills! *If you do not see a time listed that works for your child, please look at my availability so we can find a time that does work!

I have been a public school teacher at a Title I school for 15 years. My experience ranges from K-5th grade, and I have taught every academic subject: Math, Reading, ELA, Social Studies, and Science. I have worked as a homeroom teacher as well as an ESOL teacher. I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education from Toccoa Falls College (2005 graduate) as well as a Master of Education Degree from North Georgia College & State University (2010 graduate). My Georgia teaching license is current. I have professional training in leadership, ESL Endorsement, reading and math support, and more!
I believe every child can succeed if given the right tools and positive encouragement. I have 15 years of experience working with a variety of learners from those who struggle and need a lot of patient guidance to those who excel and need a challenge! I see each learner as a precious gift and seek to provide the right support based on each child's needs. I also have homeschool experience so I can approach learning from your homeschool child's personal needs! It is a joy and blessing for me to teach!
