Description
Class Experience
Each session will build upon previously learned lessons. We will address a variety of drawing and painting techniques used to create realistic artwork, through easy to follow demonstration, instructions and the viewing of a variety of artists' work. Beginning learners will likely follow the schedule below, while more advanced students will have an opportunity to accelerate as needed. Below is a sample list of topics we will cover, however this list can and will be modified based on the student's interests and needs. Week 1 -Drawing basic forms and creating value Week 2 - Drawing a still life Week 3 - Drawing Portraits Week 4 - Understanding value in painting Week 5/6 - Still life painting Week 7/8 - Portrait painting
Students will likely need to continue to work on pieces started in class for maximum results. Please plan to spend at least a couple of hours a week outside of class working on given assignments. Drawing and painting, like most skills, is best developed through much practice.
suggested materials will be determined during our first meeting. However, in general please plan to have the following: Watercolor or mixed media sketchbook Pencils (preferably graphite pencils) Eraser Paint brushes Acrylic paint Papertowels Cup of water *If the student will be working with oil paints we will discuss material needs in more depth.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
