US Grade 3 - 6
In this three week session, learner meets 3X a week for intensive one-on-one review, practice and reading skills development, building a solid foundation and acquiring new skills while preparing the learner for greater success in reading and in school. Learner will incorporate phonics and review vowels, their sounds [short, long] with a focus on their sounds, practice decoding, review grade appropriate sight words, blends, digraphs, various diphthongs, grammar, spelling rules and spelling patterns, R-controlled vowels, vocabulary, pronunciation, syllabication, and practice oral reading [individual, paired and shared reading with the Teacher], comprehension and fluency [including accuracy, pace and expression]. A learner always learns better when having fun so we'll play educational word games to reinforce what is taught. Learner will spend time actually reading, learning to understand what's been read, use context clues, ask questions, answer open ended questions, draw inferences and conclusions, and use critical thinking skills. Learner will be assessed to determine baseline skills and an individual learning plan will be customized and implemented for the learner. Learners continue for three weeks, meeting three times a week as they work intently improving their fundamental understanding of reading, improve their reading level, comprehension and critical thinking skills. This three week intensive skill building session will help the learner becoming a more proficient reader. This course can be repeated as needed. For educational purposes, camera and mic must be working and on at all times throughout each session.

Parental Guidance
○ This course can be repeated as needed.
○ Parents are encouraged to communicate via e-mail any skills, areas of need or interest needing or wanting to be addressed in the learners private 1-on-1 tutoring session.
For educational purposes, camera and mic must be working and on at all times throughout each session.

Learners 8 years will need the following supplies: ○ dry erase whiteboard 8 X 10" minimum ○ dry erase markers ○ dry erase eraser [or clean sock] ○ lined paper for writing words, phrases and complete sentences ○ pencils Learners 9-14 years will need the following supplies: ○ dry erase whiteboard 8 X 10" minimum ○ dry erase markers ○ dry erase eraser [or clean sock] ○ dedicated notebook for note taking & assignments ○ pencils / pens ○ dictionary [physical preferred or online access]

Hello, I'm Paula Reid and happy to meet you and be able to privately tutor your learner. I've been in the education field all my life it seems, from helping my classmates finish their lessons when I was in second grade, well actually tutoring them when they needed help in a subject. I loved helping my classmates so much that it stuck with me throughout my schooling until I became a teacher maximizing my passion to teach children. Later on I became a Principal. I just love teaching! I love children of all ages and I love seeing learners become the best that they can be . . . and it happens through great parenting, education, phenomenal teaching and even with the help of a dedicated tutor.
I have a BA in Psychology, an MA in Education, Special Education and post-graduate work in School Administration. I've taught learners from the ages of 4 to seniors in urban, rural USA, Africa and South America, as well as ESL classes to children and young adults in China and a few other countries. I've taught special needs students as well as gifted learners. I've been an online teacher for seven years now and have enjoyed every moment.
My every day goal is to help people, to learn something new each day and teach something to someone; additionally to help students love learning, become life-long learners and develop a healthy, global view of our world.
