Homework
2-4 hours per week. We will set a personal practice goal with each student, but for many at this level I would encourage at least 2 hours of practice per week (30 minute practice sessions over 4 days).Class Experience
In our 55-minute sessions, we will take a deeper dive into specifics of cello technique, learn new repertoire, and explore additional topics to help your student become a well-rounded musician. The topics covered will depend on your learner's goals and interests, but possibilities include cello-related music theory, composition, effective practice, performance, advanced rhythmic techniques, audition preparation, historical performance, and more. Our first session will be spent getting to know your learner's interests and goals, and assessing their current level on the cello. Following sessions might spend 30 minutes on the music their learning and 25 minutes on additional topics, or we could spend the whole lesson just learning and playing music. The "Intermediate to Advanced" recommendation on this class is mostly because of the longer class time. If you feel like it is the right fit for your student but are not sure if they are classified as "intermediate" yet, feel free to send me a message. I also offer 30-minute cello lessons for all levels, where we can discuss these topics as well but in a condensed amount of time.
Learning Goals
With regular practice, students will improve their tone, rhythm, intonation, learn how to practice effectively, and learn elements of music that will help them improve their musicianship and musical knowledge.
