Are you looking to improve your drawing skills? Do you want to expand your portfolio with new techniques and dynamic artwork? In this ongoing course students will expand their drawing and painting skills through one on one instruction. Together we will discuss what the learner is hoping to gain through this class. Do they want to improve their: figure drawing, proportion, faces, compositions, watercolor sketches and mixed media work. Do they need to prepare something specific for a school portfolio. **No show policy ** If a learner is unable to make class please let me know 24 hours before for a full refund. For a 30 minute class, I will wait in the classroom for 5 minutes, should the class remain empty after five minutes the class will be cancelled. What will be taught --week - week breakdown: Week of October 4th: FUNdamentals This week we will work on drawing skills. Together we will explore drawing techniques like composition, line, value and direction. We will put the fun in still life drawing and create a dynamic graphite drawing -- with lots of value Material list: Drawing Pencils (2H, HB,2B, 4B) mixed media paper, eraser Week of October 11th: Finding Your Portrait Style This week is all about self portraits and discovering your unique drawing style. Think outside the sketchbook, how can you take a portrait of yourself and make it unique. Together we will explore value, proportion, perspective and emphasis Material list: Drawing Pencils (2H, HB,2B, 4B) mixed media paper, eraser, charcoal /conte Week of October 18th: Process-- Abstract Expression Portfolio submissions look for process -- how do you plan, create and evolve a work of art? This week we explore preparing for a large scale painting in acrylic or oil. In this class we will create sketches and consider how powerful and beautiful the process of creating a work of art. We will use graphite, watercolor and colored pencils to explore process. Material List: Drawing pencils, mixed media paper, eraser, watercolor paint, paintbrushes, water Week of October 25th: Drawing/Painting and Collage Creating a collage is an amazing way to explore pattern, shape and design. Using a magazine or print out students will required to print an image of a face, flower or toy. Students will prepare a composition using parts of the image and expand on it using drawing, and painting. Hello Parents and Students! My name is Charlene and I am a teacher here at Outschool! I have a Masters in Arts Management and a Bachelor of Arts in both Fine Arts and History. I have been teaching for 10 years in schools and art galleries to children aged 3 - 17 in ESL, Drama, and Art. I am certified in Art Therapy.
In my classes we explore drawing, painting and mixed media techniques in addition to learning the history of art and fashion. I work with each student individually -- no matter the class size, together we consider their creative style and celebrate their individual artistic mark.
