Private 1:1 Reading Tutoring - With Oxford Reading Tree Biff, Chip and Kipper!

Welcome to my class!

This reading class is perfect for anyone looking to improve their reading skills. I offer a wide variety of resources, from early phonics and CVC word books to more advanced texts from the Oxford Reading Tree series. The books are fun and engaging, and your child will get to know characters like Biff, Chip, Kipper, and Floppy!

My lessons are highly interactive and include fun PowerPoint presentations with games and activities built right into the lesson. We’ll also review phonics and vocabulary through engaging games, making learning enjoyable and effective. Once we know your child’s reading level, we’ll dive into books that match their ability, with plenty of guidance along the way. I create a relaxed, pressure-free environment so every student can feel confident and progress at their own pace.

The Oxford Reading Tree books and activities will be displayed clearly on screen, and I’ll guide your child through them, even adding annotations to help with understanding. While no writing is required, I’ll ask comprehension questions during and after the reading to ensure they fully understand what they’ve read.

The one-on-one format allows me to tailor each lesson to your child’s needs, helping them improve their reading skills and boost their confidence. They’ll become familiar with the characters and develop a love for reading.

What is your approach as a teacher?
My approach with young learners is very patient and kind. I emphasize positive reinforcement as much as possible and let the students know that their hard work is paying off.  Throughout the class, students receive lots of praise—words like "Good work! You're doing great! Excellent job!"—to keep them motivated and confident in their progress.

What is my experience? 
I have over seven years of experience teaching ESL (English as a Second Language) to students abroad, working with a diverse range of age groups (3-13). Throughout my career, I have focused on helping students develop fluency and strong independent reading skills. Additionally, I hold a 120-Hour TESOL certification, which has further enhanced my ability to support learners in their language and literacy development.
