Class Experience
US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - Kindergarten
Advanced Level
Welcome, Super Star Students! You may choose the type of private instruction you desire. • I offer reading skills and instruction for new readers, methods for older students who need to increase fluency, comprehension, and work toward grade level reading. Need help with homework? Happy to help with that as well! • I am also trained and skilled as an ESL instructor for students learning English as a Second Language. English-speaking students who are Pre-K or Kindergarten reading level will learn hand and body actions for each vowel sound. I love to use body movements as well as visual aids to get all sides of their brains involved in learning. We will explore CVC words, gain knowledge of phonics, learn to blend and make rhyming words, and practice reading by using phonics skills & picture clues. Age and level appropriate sight words will be introduced each week to add to their reading readiness. I use a variety of methods to make class engaging and fun for your young learner. Interesting, colorful slides, games, and fun after class worksheet(s) are used to support what we learn each meeting time. With older students, I will teach you various methods to increase fluency, comprehension, and work toward grade level and above reading skills. In this Private tutoring class, English as a Second Language (ESL) students from all ages and abilities can learn English. From learning the alphabet and letter sounds to advanced reading & speaking ESL students, I offer award-winning and interactive curriculums, games, and speaking practice. I taught online ESL classes for the biggest company in China for over 5 years & taught over 5500 classes to almost 1400 different students and now teach many of them privately. Parents appreciate my attentiveness to pronunciation & grammar. Students enjoy having a fun, encouraging teacher that brings out their very best. I tailor each ESL class to your student's ability to build confidence and soar to new heights! • This is a multi-day class that meets 2x/week for 4 weeks. I will communicate in advance of any weeks/days off that come up like vacations, holidays, etc. Sample weeks for Spring 2023: ◘ Week of March 6 (message me the days/time you prefer if the ones I have listed don't work) ◘ Week of March 13 ◘ Week of March 20 ◘ Week of March 27 ◘ Week of April 3 (message me the days/time you prefer if the ones I have listed don't work) ◘ Week of April 10 ◘ Week of April 17 ◘ Week of April 24 →→IMPORTANT!! ♦♦ PRE-REQUISITE note for English speaking students: your student will experience the most success when they have a good understanding of letter names & sounds prior to beginning reading skills classes like this one. Also, has your student shown an interest in wanting to read? Awesome! This is the perfect class for your child! → You will usually receive a worksheet or two for each class. I will send these out the day before class if they are to be used in class. Some will be for extension after class. Here are some examples of CVC Word Families (no particular order) that I will pull from this semester: Short /a/ vowels: -an, -ad, -at, -am, -ab, -ap, -ag Short /e/ vowels: -et, -eg, -en, -ed Short /i/ vowels: -it, -id, -ig, -ip, -in, -im, -ib Short /o/ vowels: -ot, -op, -og, -ob Short /u/ vowels: -ud, -ub, -ut, -um, -un, ug → Materials needed: pencil and crayons or markers. If we use a worksheet during class, I'll let you know in the classroom announcements that week. I prefer the worksheets printed out for your student prior to class for our hands on CVC blending practice which also helps them practice small motor skills. → Your student brightens my day just by entering my classroom! It's my joy and passion to teach young children. Your learner will feel that acceptance here! I meet your student where they are, offer tons of praise, encouragement, and assistance when needed. Please have a quiet place for your student so they can concentrate and get the most from our class time. Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Education from University of Georgia
Fun, positive, and encouraging! That’s what I hear from parents and students alike that take classes with me. I have an extensive background in musical theatre and acting so it’s only natural to bring that side of my personality to teaching. Learning should be exciting and fun. My classroom is colorful, engaging, and we will have so much fun together! My motto is: If I love teaching, my students love learning!
I love singing, acting, science, animals, volunteering in my community, crafting classroom props and creating up-cycled crafts. Just to name a few! I have been
married 25 years and we have 2 teen children and 3 dogs.
Education background:
I graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Education. I focused on Reading Education and Learning Disabilities in graduate school at UGA. I also have a 120 hour TESOL certificate for teaching ESL classes.
I currently teach phonics, beginning reading and comprehension, Play-Doh science classes, ESL, and several socialization and fun classes to students around the world. So many parents have told me their student works even harder practicing reading, phonics and speaking English in my ESL classes because of my motivation. Positive teaching methods that incorporate applicable skills propel my students to find their own inward motivation and exhibit great success. There’s no higher compliment for a teacher than knowing your student works to improve themselves because they love you and your class. Hard work, kindness, genuine love & a passion for teaching each student is the key to making a lasting impression on learners.
Now let’s get started! Engaging and exciting classes await your learner. See you in the classroom!
