Homework
Coding exercises will be given upon request. There are many exercises available, so let me know how many you would feel comfortable with, and I will assign them! (They are not mandatory)Assessment
I will be checking for comprehension as we cover each topic.Class Experience
This 50-minute class will meet once every week to cover the Ruby programming language. If your student is just starting to code or not familiar with Ruby, we will start with the basics. Otherwise, I will assess your student's level with a few coding activities and a customized path will be created for them. If your student decides to opt-in to the homework, we will review the last lesson's homework at the beginning of class. We will go at a comfortable pace, and we will learn how to think like a programmer, which is just as useful as learning the syntax of a programming language. One thing that I have learned throughout my programming experience is that "programming" is a way of thinking and not only reserved for "children good at math". Anyone can program! If your student has any issues or questions about the material covered, I am here to help, just send me a message! (I love talking about programming) Also, feel free to bring your questions to class or request specific topics in advance! If your student is outside the age range or you would like another time, please message me, and I will do my best to make the necessary accommodations. I hope to see you in class! __________________ Example of Ruby topics: - How to set up and run Ruby code - Data types: Strings, Integers, Floats, and Arrays - Variables, and meaning of "Scope" - User input - Methods, and how to write them - Dot Syntax - Interpolation - Modules - Debugging - Pry (Amazing Debugging Tool!) ... and many more *If you do not know any of these things, no worries! You soon will understand them and know how they work together!
Learning Goals
Students will improve their knowledge and proficiency of the Ruby programming language.

Supply List
Learners will need to create a www.replit.com account prior to our class. This will allow us to code right away, without installing or downloading anything. Replit.com is also the way we will be launching our websites so it is a key part of the class. Learners will also need a computer to program. Some students have been able to program on www.Replit.com from an iPad/tablet, but it is not ideal since it's hard to type.

I teach both programming and Spanish!
⌨️ Programming offers students a way to expand their minds and experiences while learning lifelong skills. I am convinced that anyone can learn how to code! With the right mindset and approach, we will demystify the concepts of programming, together!
🇪🇸 Spanish has had a tremendously positive impact on my life! It forces us to think differently which can positively manifest in so many ways. In our clases, we will break down Spanish into understandable parts so we can build the level of understanding that we desire!
❤️ I would love the opportunity to teach your child the same skills that have opened so many doors in my life.
I hope to see you in class!
