🍎Welcome to Reading Tutoring! 📘
This class is a 1:1 student to teacher ratio. Students will receive private reading tutoring to develop reading, comprehension, vocabulary and expression. 

Nearpod is a fantastic online resource where students will be able to read books, listen to stories and participate in comprehension activities. For this class, students will not need to be logged in. I will share my screen and students will be able to participate actively in this way.

Each class will be focused on a new story (unless otherwise noted). Each class will be formatted to fit the needs of the student. The student will be provided with support as needed. Students will be able to read the book on screen each class. 

In this course, students will develop skills related to:
-Blending 
-Fluency
-Vocabulary
-Comprehension
-Personal Connection


In this course, students will:
-identify characters, settings and events in a story
-describe character development throughout a story
-take mini virtual tours to activate prior knowledge
-make real life connections 
-discuss problems/solutions and facts/ opinions
-understand how to sequence and summarize a story
-participate in pause and reflect scenarios
-use mind maps, story maps, charts and organizers
-answer open ended questions
-complete short story quizzes
-complete a daily reflection of their understanding

I have been happily teaching Elementary students for the last 11 years. I have experience working in small group reading circles and one to one independent tutoring. I personally love reading and inspiring a love of reading in my students. 
Learners enjoy using charts, graphs and props in class to express their ideas. These materials are fun, engaging and can help develop comprehension, imagination and vocabulary. I believe using these resources engages students and helps develop their reading skills even more. I look forward to working with you child!
