Class Experience

1:1 weekly, private math tuition tailored to your child's abilities and needs.

Let's build confidence and enjoyment in math!

I have been successful at helping children with maths difficulties to succeed in their learning and to feel more positive towards maths. I aim to help your child with any maths anxiety they may have.

We will focus on the areas your child needs help with. This could be any area of Maths, several areas, or a broad maths curriculum based on your child's age/grade/level. This could be number, place value, counting, addition, subtraction, shape, time, fractions, multiplication, statistics, decimals, percentages, reasoning or a mixture of these areas.

I teach these classes through the use of an interactive whiteboard so your learner and I can see and work on the screen together at the same time. Your learner can also work on paper if you prefer. I will send homework afterwards for them to practise the skill on paper. I teach by first modelling how to approach the question, then working through questions together and then having the learner work independently on the same type of questions.

I will help your child learn to articulate how they know the answer.

I usually structure these classes starting with a with a math warm up activity or game, then we have the main session, then we review what we learnt and this can be further reviewed through the homework that I send.

In the first session I will assess your child's level and needs. This will inform our subsequent sessions together. Please message me when you enrol to let me know if there is anything specific you want your child to work on and any information I may need about them such as additional needs.

As this is a 1:1 class, if your learner cannot make it one week, please message me with at least 24 hours notice and I will refund you for that week.

Please send schedule requests and any questions you may have.

I can schedule this class more than once a week for you.

I can also schedule this class for a shorter or longer length of time such as a 20 minute or 45 minute class.

*I am also happy to work with older children, up to 18 years old, with additional needs if they are working on math/s at a 4-11 year old level*

Ethos
Above all I love learning new things and I love to see children enjoying learning and finding a passion for something. I believe that teaching and learning should be fun. Learning is a collaborative process that includes the teacher and the learners. I have as much to learn from the children as they do from me. The children should be at the centre of their learning experience and be able to learn in their own way. I endeavour to meet each learner where they are and go at their own pace. I truly believe there is no cap on what any one person can learn and achieve in their own time.
Learning Goals
The learning goals will depend on the individual child.
