Hello Mathematicians! The goal of this class is to provide 1:1 math tutoring and homework help for students in the fourth-eighth grade. Math is an essential subject in school but is also one of the harder core subjects for learners to grasp. I graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education and a minor in 4-8 Math, so I understand the struggles students face with this subject area and I am here to help relieve some of their stress by providing private tutoring to help boost your learner's confidence through the use of fun and engaging worksheets, PowerPoints and activities. Each session will be specifically designed to meet the individual needs of your learner. Because of this, learners must reach out to provide key information before our session so that I can better design the lesson to fit their specific mathematical needs. This includes, but is not limited to: 1. Grade level 2. Areas of concern 3. Your goal for this session (homework help, extended lesson, test prep, etc.) Learners are required to provide the information listed above as well as provide any specific worksheets (homework pages, test review, etc.) they would like to work on in class 48 hours before our scheduled session. If they do not do so, the teacher can reach out to reschedule the session.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their mathematical understanding through personalized lessons to fit their individual needs.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hey, y'all!
My name is Julia Griffith and I am so happy you're here! I love cooking, crafts, holidays, animals, and all things math!
I graduated from Sam Houston State University in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. I minored in 4-8 Mathematics and I also hold an ESL certification.
I have always had a passion for working with children and began babysitting at thirteen. While in college, I worked at a math and reading center where I provided private instruction to students between the ages of 3-18 to improve their academic performance, improve occupational skills, and prepare them for academic tests. I eventually began working as a preschool teacher where I provided materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate and use, both in learning activities and imaginative play. During my time at Sam Houston, I spent many semesters student teaching. During my time as a student-teacher, I observed and assisted in many different grade levels including fourth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grade.
I pursued a degree in education because I remember what it was like being a student and it was tough. I want to show students through my teaching that no dream is too big to achieve and that it's okay to take risks and to reach for the stars. I am particularly passionate about teaching math because math is hard and I believe the reason most kids don't enjoy taking math classes is that they haven't seen math in a fun way and I am here to change that.
I offer a variety of different math classes that will help build up students' mathematical confidence while keeping things fun and engaging for your learner. On top of teaching math classes, I also offer a variety of other fun classes throughout the year.
