US Grade 3 - 6
**I'm sorry parents, but at this time I can not offer after-school hours aside from the weekend spots on the calendar. There is no weekly breakdown of what this class will teach since the class is specifically tailored to what the student needs to learn. Some topics that are available are: Long division, place value, bar and pie graphs, rounding and estimating, multiplication, word problems, fractions, coordinate planes, finding area and perimeter, combining like terms, one and 2 step algebra equations, exponents, square roots, mean, median and mode, order of operation, (PEMDAS) logic puzzles and games! Class is conducted in a fun, playful but educational setting. I follow the "I do, we do, you do" teaching method. Meaning, I show the lesson, we practice together, and then students demonstrate what they've learned on their own. If reviews are needed we can definitely loop back again. *I do not work within the common core standards, I follow the traditional arithmetic methods for class. Common core is being phased out in most schools, 20 states have started the appeal to remove common core from schools, 4 states have already succeeded in doing so. (If you have questions on this, please feel free to send a message!) Weekly lessons are 30 minutes long followed by paired homework for practice over the week. The first class is always an evaluation to identify any learning gaps from prior school years. **Attendance note for parents of enrolled students --> Since classes are only 30 minutes, I only wait on late students for 10 minutes. (1/3 of the class). If your student does not show up within the 10-minute mark, the remaining 20 minutes can be scheduled at a later date as a free make-up class :)
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding of arithmetic.
