This private 1-on-1, one-time or on-going, class is perfect for young artists and designers who would like to develop their digital art skills at their own unique pace with guided instruction.

Class Experience

Each meeting will begin with the learner sharing any art they've completed on their own recently, that could be traditional or digital art [they are not required to do so, but many learners enjoy the opportunity to share their art!]. The learner will then be asked whether there are any specific skills or areas they would like to work on. We will then work on a project addressing that skill, learning a new skill, or refining / modifying a previous project (always by using safe editing techniques). I will share an overhead view of my iPad so that the learner will be able to see exactly how I navigate throughout the application, and I will encourage chatting throughout the lesson.

Skills include, but are never limited to:
- Working with and manipulating multiple layers.
- Exploring different brushes.
- Trying out different blending modes.
- Using the various tools within the Magic Wand [adjustments menu].
- Adding photos and text and learning to manipulate them.
- Creating and customizing Stamps & Brushes.
- Learning to use Animation Assist.
- Using Masks [Layer & Clipping].
- Learning basic gestures [Alpha Lock, Undo / Redo, etc.].

Learners do not need any prior experience with Procreate to take this class. They will need an iPad, an Apple Pencil [preferred], and to have the Procreate application downloaded and installed [$12.99 from the App Store--check to make sure that you iPad is compatible]. At this time, Procreate is only supported on Apple products [compatible iPads and iPhones].

Parental Guidance

The drawing app Procreate is used in this class. It can be purchased and downloaded from the Apple App Store.

Supply List

Learners will need an iPad with Procreate downloaded and installed and an Apple Pencil [best!] or an iPhone with Procreate Pocket downloaded and installed.

They will also need another device to attend the Zoom call.

My name is Rachel and I teach drawing, painting, sketching, and animating using the Procreate app on iPad. Learners may join with another drawing application or traditional materials, whatever they prefer!*

*For lessons that include "Procreate" in the description, the application is a requirement of the class.
Except for 2D Animation Club, if a learner is confident in another animation application they may choose to join with it. However, I will not be troubleshooting other apps during these lessons.
