Welcome to Kindergarten Readiness: Unit 1 Private Class. In this course (8 classes), we will focus on all things to prepare your student for Kindergarten. We will cover math skills, phonics, and science through games and interactive activities. Through play, the course will provide an enriching learning experience that is tailored to the specific developmental level of your child. We will practice valuable social skills, as well as hone in on social-emotional intelligence, and practice communication and language skills. This class will prepare your little one to feel confident in school. - This class will move at the pace of your child and will be tailored to meet the needs and strengths of your child. I will alter the curriculum so that it corresponds with your learner's skills. - In each class, we will begin with a welcome song, discuss the calendar, complete a weather activity, practice counting, sing the ABCs, learn new letters, and engage in a science lesson. - Science: Learners will explore the four seasons. We will also discover how plants and trees change throughout the seasons. We will learn about how the seasons affect animals, plants, and humans. - Phonics: Learners will practice saying the alphabet from A-Z. They will also practice recognizing isolated letters A, M, S, T, C. However, if your learner is at a more advanced stage in phonics, I will alter the curriculum to fit their needs. - Math: Learners will practice counting from 1 to 20. They will also learn number 1-1 correspondence (counting objects) up to 20. However, if your learner is at a more advanced stage in math, I will alter the curriculum to fit their needs. - Communication and Language Skills: Learners will learn about dialogue and how to take turns during conversations. Teacher expertise and credentials
New York Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Hi, I’m Sarah, and I’m passionate about helping children become confident, successful readers.
With over a decade of experience in education, including teaching dual-language kindergarten and running my own tutoring business, I specialize in providing personalized, explicit phonics instruction to emergent and struggling readers.
My journey began when I noticed a lack of accessible and practical curriculums tailored to meet the needs of diverse learners. This inspired me to create my own, blending foundational literacy with engaging, research-based techniques. Since then, I’ve worked with students from Kindergarten through 5th grade, helping them master everything from phonics and fluency to comprehension and vocabulary development.
I believe that every child learns differently, which is why I design individualized lesson plans based on assessments and ongoing progress monitoring. My data-driven approach ensures that every session meets your child where they are and takes them where they need to go.
When I’m not teaching, I love spending time with my family and my little one and exploring creative ways to make learning fun. Whether your child is just starting out or needs extra support to thrive, I’m here to help them build a strong foundation for lifelong reading success.
Let’s work together to unlock your child’s reading potential!
