Beginner Level
Is this your first time using Outschool? Please read my profile 'About me' for a discount off your very first class :) In this course, your child will learn to read with the popular Bob books series. In each lesson, your child will practice their letter sounds and how to blend sounds together to make words. Before enrolling, students should be familiar with most letters and their sounds. While we will cover letter recognition and sounds during lessons, this should primarily serve as a review, allowing us to focus on reading in class! I use fun slides and activities, which makes the learning process very fun. Each week, we will read a new Bob Book together. I will share my screen, so it's not necessary for you to purchase the book series. We will start with Set 1: Beginning Readers. Since this is a one-on-one class, I'll tailor the pace to suit your learner's needs. We'll also work on phonics and sight words to enhance their skills and confidence. After reading, (if time permits) we will play some games and complete activities to promote revision of words & sounds found within each book. After we complete the first set, we can move onto reading additional books within the Bob books series. What is your approach as a teacher? My approach with young learners is very patient and kind. I emphasize positive reinforcement as much as possible and let the students know that their hard work is paying off. Throughout the class, students receive lots of praise—words like "Good work! You're doing great! Excellent job!"—to keep them motivated and confident in their progress. What is my experience? I have over seven years of experience teaching ESL (English as a Second Language) to students abroad, working with a diverse range of age groups (3-13). Throughout my career, I have focused on helping students develop fluency and strong independent reading skills. Additionally, I hold a 120-Hour TESOL certification, which has further enhanced my ability to support learners in their language and literacy development. CEFR Level: A0.5-Pre-A1
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to read with the Bob books series. My ultimate goal is for your learner to become excited about reading and to grow more confident!
