Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
Students in grades kindergarten through sixth will be taught reading, writing, and math. Depending on the student's grade level, we will practice foundational phonics, reading comprehension, vocabulary, and reading fluency. In writing, we will practice sentence structure, paragraph structure, proper grammar and spelling. Math will include focus on the basics of subtraction, addition, multiplication and division, as well as fractions and geometry. Students may screenshare their public-school virtual curriculum. If students do not already have a curriculum, I will use IXL, Nearpod, and Khan Academy resources to teach reading, writing, and math.

Every session begins with small talk and a check-in to make sure students are comfortable and ready to learn. Students get to choose which subject they'd like to work on first and set goals for completion. I use screen share to display the lessons, annotate tools to demonstrate practice problems, highlight important details, or guide students in completing a question. My method is interactive, allowing students independence and choice while guiding them step by step as needed. This is a one-on-one session meant to meet multiple times a week with plenty of time for questions and moving at the student's pace, while also staying on pace with the curriculum.

Learning Goals

Students will learn math, reading, and writing at their grade level according to Common Core standards.
