Private 1:1 English Language Learner (ELL) Reading and Writing Tutor

In this ongoing private tutoring class, I will plan lessons in a sequence that allows your child to grow in their reading decoding and comprehension skills. I will use texts that your child is interested in and we will have a guided reading session very similar to if they were at a school. The primary resource program I use allows me to use best practice instruction to support your child's growth. 

Some topics for decoding typically include:

-long and short vowels and patterns they may have 
-prefix and suffix
-compound words
-syllabication (closed and open syllables 
-singular and plural nouns
-contractions 

Some reading comprehension topics may include:

-predicting
-summarizing
-making connections
-questioning
-inferring
-visualizing
-main idea/details
-cause and effect

I will use texts and books that your child is interested in as well. It would be helpful to chat in the message conversation area about specific learning goals and topics of interest your child has. I am able to do some assessments on our first day together to ensure proper instruction is given and learning styles are observed. I look forward to working with your child and seeing the incredible progress he/she is going to make! I have an immense success rate of bringing students up to grade level as well as setting students up for success for the upcoming grade level!
