Assessment
At the end of each lesson, I post a message in the classroom detailing what we accomplished that day and what to expect in the future. I will routinely check in with learners and parents on overall progress and goal-setting.

Class Experience

US Grade 6 - 9
Beginner - Advanced Level
As a former classroom ELA teacher and an online English teacher for many years, I can put my skills to work to help each learner improve their English skills. Whether they are a native speaker hoping to improve reading comprehension or writing skills, or they are learning English as a second language, we can work together to set and meet each learner's goals.

Our first session will be used to establish a baseline. We will work together to write a list of goals that we will work toward for the next several weeks. This set of goals and a schedule of what will be worked on during each session will be sent to learners and parents for approval. These goals will be specific to each learner and their progress. Every few weeks, we will revisit our goals to check our progress and set new goals, if applicable.

Each class will consist of a 30-minute lesson targeted toward the goals set by the learner. I try to use deductive teaching whenever possible, allowing the learner to identify and develop skills while being guided, not lectured, by the teacher. Most classes involve discussion, reading passages or chapters from mentor texts, and guided practice of skills. Learners should be prepared to actively participate in each class session.

Alternately, our class time may be used for specific homework help. Learners may come to class with assignments with which they need assistance and I will help them to complete their homework by guiding them and reteaching concepts (not completing the assignments for them.)

Class Policies:
- I am happy to assist learners with projects or homework, but I will NOT help learners complete online quizzes or tests. Classes where I am asked to help with quizzes or tests will be cancelled with no refund.
- As this is an ongoing course, the schedule is very flexible. We can do multiple classes per week or less than once per week. Please contact me if you would prefer a schedule other than once per week and I can create a customized session for you.
- I try to give as much notice as possible before cancelling a class for vacation or other reasons. Any time a class is cancelled on my end, you will not be charged, or you will receive a full refund (other than the exception listed in the first point.)
- I will abide by the Outschool refund policy for this class type, which means that no refunds will be given for classes cancelled within 48 hours.

If you have any questions about this course or the policies listed, please send me a message.
