Homework
There’s no specific homework, but artists may want to continue projects to finish the details and final touches.Assessment
Throughout the class, I will have artists share their work with me to see their progress and ask questions as they arise.Class Experience
Join me for a personalized, 1-on-1 art class that can include drawing (pencils, markers, pastels), painting, (acrylic/tempera/watercolors), and various design ideas. I have a large selection of projects and we can organize a plan in many thematic ways depending on your artist's interests. In my studio, all are welcome! I take pride in a calm and friendly setting where your artist can explore and experiment and we can celebrate each step of their artistic journey! It is so fun to create a masterpiece art collection and watch creativity unfold. I am excited to work with your artist! We will come up with a personalized lesson plan based on the selection of lessons I already have, but I am also interested to see what topics your artist is passionate about: we can create lessons around that as well. This collection of art becomes an expression of creative challenges, a variety of techniques, and also, importantly self-reflection of their own time and place. My studio time with your artist is meant to provide ideas, inspiration, and guided instruction, but it is not an open studio. I will present an overview of the project and details so they can follow it step-by-step, and they are encouraged to experiment and explore as well beyond that to make their piece unique. I always use an additional camera so artists can see each step as I create with them. The final result will be very much up to the individual artist. Please note: my projects are focused on beginning-level art skills that can be applied and used in any age group. Class options may include: Animal drawings Watercolor painting- wet on wet, resist, salt diffusion, etc Process art projects- monoprints, string pulls, squeegee pulls, marble rolls, fingerprints, etc Landscape paintings Abstract designs We will work together prior to the first meeting to set up a lesson plan!
Learning Goals
My goal is for artists to have fun learning how to create colorful artwork and put together a cohesive collection of personal art masterpieces, using simple supplies you may already have, and to continue to experiment on their own.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Music or Theatre or Arts from UCLA
I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from UCLA and have enjoyed working with vibrant colors through markers, paints, chalk pastels and more. My personal style, as reflected in my own artwork over the years, is more abstract, graphic, and even impressionistic. I worked with artistic learners for several years when I was in charge of a volunteer- lead art program that focused on art elements and the art masters. We did many different thematic projects and used different media each month. I continue to search for and develop more projects incorporating fun compositions and techniques. I love discovering how one technique can have unexpected results and even be used in new ways. Sharing these colorful ideas with young artists is exciting - I often learn from them as well as they express themselves!
