Class Experience

This one-time, 30 minute phonics class is meant to be an active, engaging class for little ones that love everything having to do with princesses! Together, we will review individual phonemes and then learn one of the most used reading strategies for beginning readers: blending! Using my personalized, interactive presentation involving some very special princesses and castles, we will actively blend several new -at and -an words. Blending is a critical early literacy strategy to decode new words.

Students are encouraged, but not required, to wear their favorite princess shirt, dress, costume, pajama set, crown, you name it! Also welcome in class are magic wands and dolls. I encourage students to bring some sort of writing utensil and paper or dry erase board for writing words briefly. Each student will have an opportunity to share what they have brought to class and why they chose it. This is a fun way for students to practice speaking and using expressive language and listening skills.

I will have my wand and tiara ready, and students will help me as we navigate different games and wave our wands to make our words come alive. I can't wait to have fun and learn with your little princess!

Learning Goals

Students will improve their phonemic awareness, strengthen their word blending skills, and engage in conversation while practicing expressive language and listening skills.
