Hi Parents and Princesses. IMPORTANT!!! - If your 3, 4 or 5 year old child does NOT already know the bulk of their letter sounds this is the class for them!! :) If they already know their letter sounds and are ready to take the next step towards reading please enroll them in my Advanced Pre-K/Kindergarten class. Each day students will receive direct instruction in a variety of literacy and math skills that include physical interactions (for example, acting out parts of a story), oral story time, and independent practice music, songs and art. They will practice social skills with an emphasis on taking turns, communication and empathy. Students will interact directly with each other and the teacher through group discussions, singing, story question/answer sessions and more. Best part??? They can come to class dressed in their favorite princess dress, crown and wand or in their comfy clothes, its all up to them. Learning activities will often have a princess theme but will not be limited to only princesses - the goal is to make the learning environment and learning so much fun that they don't even realize they are doing work. Each month will focus on specific theme and set skills and will include a variety of interactive activities that will keep students engaged. Each week we have a "letter of the week" where students focus on letter recognition, pre-reading, handwriting and vocabulary building. In addition to academics, the first weeks classes will focus on: establishing our routine, forming friendships and communication skill building. Class is structured to move back and forth between seat work, songs, physical movement and discussion to keep students interested. Every day we have at least two story times which will focus on comprehension and oral listening and are chosen based on our learning goals and theme for the month. An hour may seem long, however the class is broken up with frequent motor breaks and music/singing to keep the students interested and focused. Also, it helps simulate an actual kinder/pre-k learning environment where students are expected to follow a schedule and routine as well as participate in a variety of activities for an extended period of time. All my classes are highly structured with behavioral expectations that allow all students the opportunity to learn and participate. Course fee is per week. If a student misses a class, the video will be available for students to watch at a later time.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! You can call me Miss Angela! I am a mother to a wonderful daughter, 2 dogs, 9 chickens and 2 rabbits.
On Outschool, my classes have focused heavily on Princess Pre-K/Kindergarten, Phonics, Reading, Spelling, Story times and animal science based classes. My Princess Pre-K classes were the first to be offered on Outschool.
I have over 15 years experience teaching every grade and a wide variety of subjects. As my interest grew and developed, my teaching repertoire expanded. For the past 2 years I taught K-2 in a tiny village in Alaska. Prior to that I taught K-8 social studies, language arts and agriculture. My other teaching experiences include K-12 social studies, agriculture and educational technology. I have both a bachelor and masters degrees in education and am currently working on elementary and reading specialist programs.
From day 1, I have believed that BOTH teaching and learning should be fun and relevant. I value technology as a learning and communication tool, agriculture, learning and teaching about other cultures, book, books and more books and lastly, I am passionate about teaching reading and helping struggling readers become book lovers.
My classes are highly structured with specific learning goals that focus on academics, social/emotional and communication. I hope you stop by and try out a class.
Miss Angela ... P.S. try not to laugh too hard at the video .. its not my speciality
