US Grade Preschool - Kindergarten
Preschool students will engage with all elements of musical theater in this action-packed princess themed ongoing class. Each week we’ll spend 45 minutes singing, dancing, and acting while playing games! Every class will begin with an acting activity that matches the themed Princess of the Day. In these acting activities we’ll explore emotions, facial expressions, body language, using our voices, and discussing storylines. Then we’ll do a basic jazz dance warm-up/stretch and learn a short dance to a song that fits the Princess of the Day! We’ll take a “body break” by learning lyrics to a song sung by the Princess of the Day and sing-a-long as the character. A Powerpoint with the lyrics and images for reference will be shared with the class to encourage following along (but reading is in no way necessary or expected). Students will be encouraged to sing or dance freely and creatively as we listen to the music and share our voices. We’ll finish each class by taking a bow or a curtsey, just like a professional performer! Each week will follow the schedule of princess themes as listed below. No experience is necessary to participate, as this class is built to introduce musical theatre fundamentals to young children. In class I use Disney music that matches with the Princess of the Day. As an ongoing class, no prior knowledge is required and you are welcome to start and stop your subscription at any time. Dances and songs will not be continued or built upon from week to week- the Princess of the Day, themed sing-a-long, dance choreography, and acting activities will change each week! Below is the Princess of the Day list which each class will be themed based upon for the Summer 2024 season: Week of June 3rd: Rapunzel Week of June 10th: Ariel Week of June 17th: Tiana Week of June 24th: NO CLASS-MISS LEXA ON VACATION :) Week of July 1st: Mirabel Week of July 8th: Cinderella Week of July 15th: Moana Week of July 22nd: Elsa

Other Details
Parental Guidance
Dance is a physical activity which should always be done with parental supervision. Dancing on a flat and uncluttered floor space is encouraged to help eliminate potential hazards. Having water close by and taking breaks when needed is also encouraged. If the child has a physical limitation or medical condition which is aggravated by movement, please consult a doctor before participating.
*A note on expectations: During sing-a-long time I share my screen with learners so they can see the words we are learning. I in no way expect this age group to be able to read along- I am simply providing the lyrics so they can see the words as we sing them and support their reading development/word identification. Memorization of lyrics and dances is not expected or needed.
Supply List
Dancers are welcome to wear a leotard and tights, their favorite dress-up costume, or moveable street clothes. Ballet shoes or jazz shoes are recommended but bare feet are also welcomed! A distraction-free space where you can freely and safely move is also recommended, as well as having a water bottle close by.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
