Class Experience

Welcome Princess Pals! In this ongoing class, we will stretch, dance, and exercise with all our favorite Disney Princesses. Each week will feature new Disney Princess music along with your favorites. Learners will follow me as we learn simple stretches, dance moves, and practice our gross motor/locomotor skills. No prior experience needed. No supplies needed! Come dressed in comfortable clothes or as your favorite princess! The castle door is only a step away! Don’t forget to bring all your energy, princess crown (totally optional!), and a water bottle too!

Incorporating a variety of movement and dance keeps this upbeat fitness dance class fun and entertaining! Each week will have new dance moves and combinations! Children will learn how to move to music while socializing with friends and jamming out to their favorite Disney songs each week.

Dances and movement will include music from: (feel free to let me know if your child has other favorites!)
Dance 1: Elsa, Anna, and Frozen friends
Dance 2: Cinderella and Rapunzel
Dance 3: Ariel, Moana and an Underwater Adventure
Dance 4: Jasmine, a Magic Carpet Ride, and Frozen 2
Dance 5: Belle and Mulan
Dance 6: Tiana and Mirabel (how could I leave out a couple of Encanto songs?!)
And more!

Class will begin with an introduction and talking about our favorite Disney Princesses or setting the scene for that class. I can’t wait to hear all the things you love about being a princess. I'm a former Walt Disney World performer, and I'd love to share some cool things I know with you too! I will first guide students through the warm-up and stretching. Next, I will model and perform a variety of creative movements as we have fun, sing, and dance. Finally, class will finish with a final cool down stretch and more social time!

Learners will have the opportunity to sing along and share all their Disney Princess knowledge. You can expect your child to receive lots of encouragement and praise throughout our workout. They will leave feeling excited about fitness, and with a new dance routine they can practice at home! Active fun for the whole family!

*Join at any time! Stay enrolled as long as your little princess is enjoying it!*

Class will be learner-directed and students are welcome to share their input on favorite songs, characters, and games as we adventure through this ongoing class! Each workout is sure to be fun and fresh as we get to know one another and the activities your princess enjoys!

Please note, I will not be dressing up as each Disney Princess for class, but I will wear a dress or workout clothes and always bring my favorite princess crown!

Learning Goals

My goal for your little is to help them to find joy in movement! Combining fun moves with songs we can sing along to will encourage them to have fun and build stamina, strength, and flexibility. I seek to do this by providing an engaging and upbeat dance workout that your child will look forward to every week!

Ongoing group classes are great practice for developing social skills and building friendships with familiar faces. Music will be shared from my computer, and play directly from your child’s device, so it will be easy to sing along! I generally do not mute learners, but during some songs I may mute to ensure each learner can hear the music clearly and enjoy it!

Improvement in the areas of strength, balance, coordination, and other gross motor skills.

They will also be working towards achieving the daily physical activity recommendations of both the CDC and American Heart Association. According to the CDC, it is recommended that children and adolescents ages (6-17 years) should do 60 minutes or more of moderate-to-vigorous intensity physical activity each day, including daily aerobic – and activities that strengthen bones (like running or jumping) – 3 days each week, and that build muscles (like climbing or doing push-ups) – 3 days each week."

According to the American Heart Association:

Active kids are more likely to have:
-a healthy weight
-stronger, healthier bones and muscles
-better heart and brain health
-improved brain function, including memory, attention and problem-solving
-better school attendance and academic performance, especially in math, reading and writing
-lower long-term risk of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and some kinds of cancer
-less stress and fewer symptoms of anxiety and depression
-less inappropriate and distracting classroom behavior
-improved mental health and psychological well-being, including confidence and self-esteem
