Class Experience

'Princes of the Apocalypse' is a campaign designed for Level 1 characters. The party will level up as the adventure continues. It is highly recommended that students have a character sheet pre-made for this campaign. If a character sheet is not provided, I can select a pre-generated character for them.

Here are some rules for player characters:
- Officially published materials only! No homebrew or unearthed arcana.
- Instead of rolling for ability scores, use the {15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8} stat array.
- No evil alignments. Neutral characters are not permitted to commit acts of evil.
- Absolutely no PvP (player vs. player) is allowed.
- Additionally, you may not steal from other players.

We will have class in roll20.net. All students should be familiar with this website. Roll20 is going to be the visual component of our game whereas zoom is more for audio. When speaking, students should do their absolute best to stay in-character. There will be time for out-of-character questions at the beginning and end of every class.

Learning Goals

Students will learn how to act as a member of an adventuring party and participate in a shared storytelling experience.

Parental Guidance
Dungeons & Dragons is recommended for players 12 years and older. Fantasy violence is a large part of the experience. Characters in the game may be killed or maimed. The 'Princes of the Apocalypse' story campaign evokes images of shrines to dark gods and demonic entities. Rest assured that the demons *are* the bad guys, and good triumphs in the end.
Supply List
Students should purchase a Dungeons & Dragons Player's Handbook (5th Edition.) The e-book can be purchased on roll20.net for $29.99.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been running Dungeons & Dragons campaigns since my junior year in college. For me, D&D is a unique opportunity to tell a story and have other people share in the telling of that story. I have a Bachelor of Arts in creative writing and a Master of Education for English Language Arts. I can't wait to see what creative ideas your children have to offer!
