I will do my best to meet your needs. Once you have scheduled your tutoring session, I will ask you for the following information: - Grade - Purpose of the session (homework help, project help, test preparation, etc.) - Specific needs including topic if known (i.e. paragraphs, sentence structure, homework assignment, essay, research paper, etc) - Learning details - Please provide any details about your student (Learning styles, strengths, etc.) Please submit any information for our tutoring sessions at least 48 hours prior to your tutoring session so a detailed plan can be made to optimize your tutoring time. I will use this time to get to know your student, their needs, and especially their interests. I will use this information going forward to tailor future tutoring sessions to your student. If this is a one-time homework help session, the homework the student needs help with MUST be provided at least 48 hours prior to the session, and I must be told this is a one-time homework help session. Please note: I will NOT provide answers to homework problems as this is forbidden in the Professional Tutors Code of Ethics. I will teach your student how to solve a problem. I will provide background information, teach your student, and fill in the gaps your student needs to complete their homework assignment. I will review completed assignments and assist your student in areas of weakness. We may not have the time to get to every problem on a homework sheet in our 30-minute session. I am an experienced writing teacher. I can provide tutoring for all grades and ages at a grade-appropriate level in a friendly, accommodating environment. Tutoring can help with understanding the subject, furthering knowledge, test preparation, problem areas, class assignments, or just for fun.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from Minors: Biology, Chemistry, and Writing
Hello. I am Annette the Teacher. I can't wait to teach you here on Outschool.
My educational philosophy is to foster the growth and knowledge of my students through personalized, project-based, and collaborative learning. I believe in nurturing every student's quest for knowledge through Activity-Based Learning. Learning should be fun. My classes are based on hands-on learning projects. In my classes, you get into the action with experiments, activities, projects, crafts, cooking, and more.
I have been teaching for many years. I have over three decades of experience teaching children of all ages. I have a B.A. in Sociology with minors in Biology, Chemistry, and Writing from the University of Pittsburgh. I have homeschooled my children from Pre-School through their High School graduations. All of my classes are interactive. I encourage students to fully participate in class. My classes feature hands-on activities, books, and worksheets I write for the class. No matter the subject, my classes get the students involved.
I have been working as a tutor for 10+ years.
I am a writer and artist. I use my extensive knowledge and experience to create unique classes for every student. I enjoy teaching science, history, and art classes. I bring history alive with my "Big History ..." classes where students learn about key times in history through interactive lessons and projects. "Paint like ... Famous Artists" art classes where students learn about famous artists and create their own artwork based on the artists' works. "Smart Science" classes where we explore science and complete experiments and projects. I know hands-on, interactive experiences are the best way for children to learn.
I also have experience working with Special Needs children. I am Mom to a child on the autism spectrum and a child with serious medical needs and ADHD. If your child has special needs, please contact me so I can work with you and your child.
I can't wait to share my lifelong love of learning with you. There is so much knowledge out there, come and discover it with me!
