Annette the Teacher has been teaching for a very long time. She has over three decades of experience teaching children of all ages. She has a B.A. in Sociology with minors in Biology, Chemistry, and Writing from the University of Pittsburgh. She has homeschooled her own children from Pre-School through (their current) High School. All of her classes are interactive. Annette encourages students to fully participate in class. All of her classes feature hands-on activities or books Annette writes for the class herself. Annette is a published writer, publisher, and artist. She uses her extensive knowledge and experience to create unique classes for every student. She enjoys teaching science, history, art, and cooking classes. She brings history alive with her "Life in ..." history classes where students learn about key times in history by experiencing children and families' lives in that time period. "Paint like ..." art classes where students will learn about famous artists and create their own artwork based on the artists' works. "Smart Science" classes where we explore science and complete experiments and projects. Kid Cuisine classes are cooking classes for Young Chefs based on historic foods and science topics. Creative Kids classes bring creativity to kids with crafts and literature. Cool Kids Clubs are social circles based on themes like crafts, science, stories, and the alphabet. The Writing Room teaches creative writing for primary, secondary, and high school students. Students should be prepared to make, explore, and create during class. Annette knows hands-on, interactive experiences are the best way for children to learn. Annette also has experience working with Special Needs children. She is Mom to a child on the autism spectrum and a child with serious medical needs. She also has worked with children with ADHD. If your child has special needs, please contact Annette so she can work with you and your child.
Learner supply list will be provided upon class sign-up as the list is class specific
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
We may be using scissors for our projects. Adult supervision is suggested if your child needs assistance with using scissors. All projects are kid safe. Please review the class projects and decide if your child will need assistance. Allergy alert: Playdough may contain wheat products Educational science videos are used during this class. Some of these videos may be from YouTube.
