Description
Class Experience
Annette the Teacher has been teaching for a very long time. She has over three decades of experience teaching children of all ages. She has a B.A. in Sociology with minors in Biology, Chemistry, and Writing from the University of Pittsburgh. Annette also holds a TEFL certification for teaching English as a Foreign Language. She has homeschooled her own children from Pre-School through (their current) High School. All of her classes are interactive. Annette encourages students to fully participate in class. All of her classes feature hands-on activities and books Annette writes for the class herself. Annette is a published writer, publisher, and artist. She uses her extensive knowledge and experience to create unique classes for every student. She enjoys teaching science, history, art, and cooking classes. She brings history alive with her "Life in ..." history classes where students learn about key times in history by experiencing children and families' lives in that time period. "Paint like ..." art classes where students will learn about famous artists and create their own artwork based on the artists' works. "Primus Science" classes where we explore science and complete experiments and projects. Students should be prepared to make, explore, and create during class. Annette knows hands-on, interactive experiences are the best way for children to learn. Annette has completed Continuing Education Certification with OER's Big History and World History Projects and the NMNA's Foundation for Teaching and Learning about Native Americans. She is has certifications for working with special needs children and early education. She holds a 120-hour TEFL certification for teaching English as a Foreign Language. Annette also has experience working with Special Needs children. She is Mom to a child on the autism spectrum and a child with serious medical needs. She also has worked with children with ADHD. We will be doing a Water Surface Tension Experiment in today's class. Materials for this class: Large mixing bowl Water to fill the mixing bowl about half full Black pepper or cinnamon Liquid Dish Soap
35 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
An adult will need to prepare the materials for each project and have them ready PRIOR to the class. You know your student best. If you think they will need adult assistance with the project, please have an adult nearby. If adult assistance is needed, the adult must remain off-camera the entire time as per Outschool policies.
