Class experience

Annette the Teacher has been teaching for a very long time. She has over three decades of experience teaching children of all ages. She has a B.A. in Sociology with minors in Biology, Chemistry, and Writing from the University of Pittsburgh. Annette also holds a TEFL certification for teaching English as a Foreign Language. She has homeschooled her own children from Pre-School through (their current) High School. All of her classes are interactive. Annette encourages students to fully participate in class. All of her classes feature hands-on activities and books Annette writes for the class herself.

Annette is a published writer, publisher, and artist. She uses her extensive knowledge and experience to create unique classes for every student. She enjoys teaching science, history, art, and cooking classes. She brings history alive with her "Life in ..." history classes where students learn about key times in history by experiencing children and families' lives in that time period. "Paint like ..." art classes where students will learn about famous artists and create their own artwork based on the artists' works. "Primus Science" classes where we explore science and complete experiments and projects. Students should be prepared to make, explore, and create during class. Annette knows hands-on, interactive experiences are the best way for children to learn.

Annette has completed Continuing Education Certification with OER's Big History and World History Projects and the NMNA's Foundation for Teaching and Learning about Native Americans. She is has certifications for working with special needs children and early education. She holds a 120-hour TEFL certification for teaching English as a Foreign Language.

Annette also has experience working with Special Needs children. She is Mom to a child on the autism spectrum and a child with serious medical needs. She also has worked with children with ADHD. If your child has special needs, please contact Annette so she can work with you and your child.
We will be planting a seed in today's class.
Materials for this class:
Seeds (Marigold, zinnia, bean, and pea seeds usually grow well)
Dirt
A small planter pot - clay or peat (see below on how to make a planter out of an empty toilet paper tube)

Notes:
1. If you are starting your seed in a small planter, you will have to transfer it to a larger planter or outside for it to continue to grow.
2. To make a planter out of an empty toilet paper tube: Cut an inch off of the bottom of the tube. Cut 1 inch-long vertical slices into one end of the tube to make flaps. Fold the flaps in on themselves to form the bottom of the planter.
We will be planting a seed in today's class.
