US Grade 1 - 4
We will blast off from earth in our SuperLightSpeed Spaceship and hurtle to the farthest reaches of the Universe. We will explore the Universe and the elements inside of it. Then we will approach our own Milky Way Galaxy, where we will learn about stars, nebulas, and more. We will zoom into our own Solar System where we will learn about the planets, asteroids, and our own star - The Sun. We will land back on earth where we will learn about the earth and our moon and about the history and mechanics of space travel. This class is part of the Primus Science (TM) Complete Science Course Curriculum. All Primus Science classes include interactive, online live classes on Outschool with daily hands-on labs & projects, plus OPTIONAL worksheets and quizzes perfect for homeschool. Other classes in the Primus Science Earth Science Curriculum include Meteorology and Earth Structure. Primus Science also has Physical Science and Life Science classes for your complete science curriculum needs. We will do a project every day based on the topic. Day 1: The Universe, the Galaxy, and Stars - We will create our own constellations in this science and art project. Day 2: The Solar System - We will make a poster model of the Solar System Day 3: Earth, Moon, and Sun - We will make a model of the Earth, Moon, and Sun Day 4: Asteroids, Meteors, Comets, and Black Holes - We will make a comet Day 5: Rockets - We will learn how rockets launch and fly into space. We will launch a balloon "Rocket". You will need the following materials for this class: Day 1: Heavyweight black paper, white paint, paintbrush, white crayon/ Constellation Handout Day 2: Printout of the Planets, markers, crayons, or paints, clear tape, safety scissors/ Optional: a large piece of black poster board OR a large cardboard shipping box and string Day 3: Playdough or clay in orange, red, blue, green, and white Day 4: Round balloon, water, your choice of: 1 tablespoon of dirt, glitter, sand, pebbles, or a mixture of any of these, disposable mixing container (an old food container works well here), piece of paper, tape, pencil (note: you will have to freeze your comet in a freezer) and a funnel Day 5: Balloon, disposable plastic or paper straw, 12 feet of thin string, safety scissors, clear tape (plus a wall you can tape one end of the string to)

We will be using safety scissors in some of our projects. Please have an adult to assist if your child needs help with scissors.

Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from Minors: Biology, Chemistry, and Writing
Annette the Teacher has been teaching for a very long time. She has over three decades of experience teaching children of all ages. She has a B.A. in Sociology with minors in Biology, Chemistry, and Writing from the University of Pittsburgh. She has homeschooled her own children from Pre-School through (their current) High School. All of her classes are interactive. Annette encourages students to fully participate in class. All of her classes feature hands-on activities and books Annette writes for the class herself.
Annette is a published writer, publisher, and artist. She uses her extensive knowledge and experience to create unique classes for every student. She enjoys teaching science, history, art, and cooking classes. She brings history alive with her "Life in ..." history classes where students learn about key times in history by experiencing children and families' lives in that time period. "Paint like ..." art classes where students will learn about famous artists and create their own artwork based on the artists' works. "Smart Science" classes where we explore science and complete experiments and projects. Kid Cuisine classes are cooking classes for Young Chefs based on historic foods and science topics. Students should be prepared to make, explore, and create during class. Annette knows hands-on, interactive experiences are the best way for children to learn.
Annette also has experience working with Special Needs children. She is Mom to a child on the autism spectrum and a child with serious medical needs. She also has worked with children with ADHD. If your child has special needs, please contact Annette so she can work with you and your child.
