Description

Class Experience

This course consists of 6 piano lessons based on  downloadable piano music. Lessons will focus on the right hand and left hand C position. Learners will identify notes on the staff, note names, and note duration as they learn to read music on the treble staff. Learners will learn at least 10 songs and complete 2 activity sheets. 

It would be helpful if the learner has basic reading skills and the ability to wait and listen while other learners perform as much learning comes from listening....

The learner will read and play notes on the treble staff and bass staff in C position. 

National Music Standard
	• MU:Pr6.1.2a Perform music for a specific purpose with expression and technical accuracy.

Learners will be given a practice log to record their practice between lessons. Younger students may need help with practice and activities. The pacing of this class may be adjusted as needed.

Week 1 - Practice C position left hand and "Dr. Foster"
Week 2 - Practice "Who's That Tapping at My Window?"
Week 3 - Practice "Purple Cow" and Complete "Color that Note" activity
Week 4 - Practice "Jack Be Nimble" and complete "Rhythm Connect" activity
Week 5 - "Lucy Locket"

Learners need a piano/keyboard, binder or folder, and a pencil. Downloadable materials will be provided.

Learners will be informally assessed on demonstration of basic piano skills.
Learners will for formally assessed on identifying notes on the treble staff and identifying note values through 2 activity sheets.

25 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
