US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 1
Beginner Level
This course consists of 6 "traditional style" piano lessons based on a purchased piano book - Faber Piano Adventures, Lesson Book, Primer Level. Part 1 will focus on finger numbers and playing songs on the black keys. Music in part 1 is "pre-staff". Learners will play songs and complete activities in the lesson book. Learners should practice between classes to improve skills. Video demonstrations of each song will be posted after class to assist with practice. It would be helpful if the learner has basic reading skills and the ability to wait and listen as other learners perform as much learning comes from listening. While it is not required, individual playing will be optional throughout this course. A concept outline is listed below. The pacing of this course may be adjusted as needed. Week 1 - hand shape, finger numbers Week 2 - moving down and up the keyboard with fingers 2 and 3 Week 3 - moving down and up the keyboard with fingers 2, 3 and 4 Week 4 - Quarter note songs with fingers 2 and 3 Week 5 - Quarter note songs with fingers 2, 3, and 4 Week 6 - Review, final performances, game Learners will need to purchase Faber Piano Adventures, Lesson Book, Primer Level which can be found at various vendors. https://pianoadventures.com/product/piano-adventures-primer-level-lesson-book-2nd-edition/
