I will also message you individually as I want to keep you, as the parent or guardian, aware of how your child is doing in class. This is a team effort in being sure your child is getting the most out of their time in piano class.Class Experience
W E L C O M E Each week, over 150 students come to see me in this beautiful virtual world! 🎵 Every class, I help them understand concepts and have fun! Kids truly love learning, and I make the entire experience easy and pleasant for parents. 🅼🆈 🅶🅾🅰🅻: My goal is to by making piano playing easy and to help students have fun and see music as a game. My experience over the past fourteen years, both in the classroom and studio, has shown me that the best way to motivate someone is to make the learning process feel 𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘺. This has been the key to unlocking the potential that my students didn’t even know they had! The majority of my students move through their books at a faster rate than the “average” time that the publisher suggests it should take – and I believe it is directly connected to the exploratory and creative environment I create in my lessons. It’s very exciting and motivating for new students to see how quickly they can learn music! 🅷🅾🆆 🅼🆈 🅿🆁🅾🅶🆁🅰🅼 🆆🅾🆁🅺🆂: 1. Schedule a spot in the "Primer Part 1: Introductory Piano Adventure." During these 8 weeks, students learn the 7 basic facts they need to play music and complete the Primer Lesson Book to the "Faber Piano Adventures" series together. 2. Order your book! "Faber Piano Adventures" Primer Level Lesson Book. You can find it here: https://amzn.to/3XCbniU ❗️🅸🅼🅿🅾🆁🆃🅰🅽🆃 ❗️ 🙏🏽 I do ask that parents prepare to sit with our young learners (8 and under) for the first 2-3 lessons to ensure your child has the best possible start to their classes - as well as avoid any issues with technology in using Zoom or their keyboards + pianos. 📹 Practice videos will be available in the classroom each week for students' review of the material as well as full class recordings for missed classes. 🎓 For our final meeting, Class 8, we have a 𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗠𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘 as well as an 𝗘𝗦𝗖𝗔𝗣𝗘 𝗥𝗢𝗢𝗠 where the students work as a team to use what they've learned to crack the codes! You are welcome to join in off camera to celebrate our learners. We will cover the basics: - Posture - Hand Position - Notes on the piano - Rhythm - Music Vocabulary - Reading basic music 𝗖𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗦 𝟭: Introduce ourselves "Intro Piano Adventure Part I" Hand Position Posture Black Keys 𝗖𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗦𝗘𝗦 𝟮-𝟳: Continue through our studies together in our Faber Piano Adventures Primer Book 1-2 Songs per day Thru page 22 ("Old MacDonald Had a Song") 𝗖𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗦 𝟴: Class Performance of their favorite pieces 🎵 Presentation of Part 1 Certificates 🎉 𝗗𝗘𝗧𝗔𝗜𝗟𝗦: The course is structured around the concept that children learn music through immersion! Your child will be given the opportunity to hear me play to model how their pieces go. We will then discuss the songs as they use "visual analysis" in understanding what is happening in the music. This allows the student to build their listening skills (ear training), sight-reading (reading music), and creativity (applying musical knowledge to their piece!) ★BONUSES★ ① 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗢𝗥𝗬 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗞𝗕𝗢𝗢𝗞 Students will be given a 𝗙𝗥𝗘𝗘 theory workbook designed especially for each level. This will help to solidify concepts and check for understanding each week. ② 𝗣𝗥𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗖𝗘 𝗩𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗢𝗦 Following each class, there will be a practice video available for the learner to review the songs done in class. This is to support the learner in their journey for extra guidance throughout the week. 𝗪𝗛𝗢 𝗜𝗦 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦 𝗖𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗦 𝗙𝗢𝗥? This is for the beginner student with no previous piano experience, or any looking for a review! If you are switching from another teacher or series, please message me and we will set up a private 1-1 "Meet + Place" intro class to properly place you! Parental Guidance
1. I must be able to see your child at the piano to assist them with the pieces. An example of the camera position will be posted in the "Classroom" before the first class begins.
2. Music: must either be Printed or used with "Faber Piano Adventures Primer Lesson Book" (link found in materials)
3. I do ask that parents stay close by our learners for the first 2-3 lessons to ensure your child has the best possible start to their classes - as well as avoid any issues with technology in using Zoom or their keyboards.
4. I will communicate with you through the conversation part of Outschool! I like to celebrate as well as keep parents + guardians aware of the happenings in class to ensure we can work together to provide the best experience possible for your child!
IMPORTANT: Students MUST have their camera on the entire time.
This is for:
1. The safety of all students.
2. For me to guide your child through their pieces best. Without being able to see them, it is not possible to assist them in playing to the best of their ability.
3. Please be sure that the camera has the student and piano in view. Again, this will allow for me to better help your child perform their best to correct any technique or questions accurately!
Also, parents I ask that you please sit with and observe your child for at least the first 4 weeks to help guide our young learners, that their camera's are set up properly, and so they are able to have you there to work out any issues that may arise.
