Pride Poetry: Writing Identity Poems for LGBTQIA+ Teens
Class experience
US Grade 8 - 11
This one-time class is an opportunity for LGBTQIA+ learners to explore and celebrate their identities through poetry. We will read and listen to poems by several LGBTQIA+ poets (spoken word and written). Learners will have the opportunity to discuss identities throughout the class. Students will then use poetry prompts to write their own identity poems, with the opportunity to share them with their peers. We will end class by writing a collaborative pantoum that students will receive a copy of.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
This class will be delving into LGBTQIA+ writing and students will be exploring their own personal identities.
