In this one time class, students will become detectives and learn about the different powers of the President of the United States. Students will examine evidence from the National Archives to determine the powers of the President using clues and deductive reasoning. Students will learn how the President acts as "Citizen in Chief" serving as a role model for all US citizens in how we should conduct ourselves and be good citizens. Students will learn the powers of the President of the United States. The roles that students will learn about are the following: Chief Citizen, Commander in Chief, Chief Diplomat, Chief Executive, Chief Host, Chief Legislator, and Chief Politician.
No homework will be assigned.
The teacher will supply all materials other than those commonly found at home.
A Kahoot game at the end of class will serve as an informal assessment of learning objectives.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Resources will be from the National Archives.
