Presenting for Beginners: Introduction to Presenting With Canva (Graphic Design)

In this course, students will learn how to design a 5-7 slide presentation in Canva and how to give that presentation. You don't need a background in Canva to take this course. We will take three weeks to learn how to create a presentation in Canva, research a topic, and present the presentation. This class will be a hands-on lesson base class. Learners will create in Canva and research during class with the help and guidance of the teacher. The students must know how to share their screens through Zoom. Week One- The teacher will present an overview of the course detailing developing a research topic, creating a presentation, and using Canva. Students will learn about the dos and don'ts of creating presentation slides. Learners will research using Youtube, Wikipedia, and/or the Smithsonian Magazine to find a topic to build a presentation on. Week Two- Learners will be given time to finish their research and select a topic. The teacher will present how to use Canva and create presentation slides. Learners will be given time to work on creating their presentations. Week Three- The teacher will instruct on how to give a presentation. The students will have time to finish up their presentations and then will present their presentations to the class. (optional) If time permits, in week three, students will be given time to explore and create in Canva freely with guidance from the teacher.

Parental Guidance
We will be using a design software called Canva. It is a website that students will need to have a free account. Canva is a resource for creating designs using various elements, images, and videos to use to create designs will. You can search for words like fighting, explosion, kissing, etc., and images that nature will appear. Students will also need to research to find a topic to present on and can use Wikipedia, Youtube, and the Smithsonian Magazine. Each of these platforms has content like fighting, kissing, explosion, etc. is searched.
