Class Experience

Improve your public speaking by pretending to be a presenter.

Each week learners will develop their public speaking/presenting skills and speaking confidence in a fun way, by pretending to be different TV, Radio or YouTube presenters.

Learners get to take it in turns to choose which style of presenting we will explore next.

The list grows all the time, but learners can choose from areas such as:

News, Nature/National Geographic, Science, Space/Astronomy, Chemistry, Mathematics, Lifeguard, Giving instructions, Book reviews, Weather, Arts, Crafts, Movies, Gaming Tips, Sports, Radio, Sales Pitch, Shopping Channel, Baking/Cooking, Slime Making, Riddles, Children’s, Build presenting- like Lego, Vets Advice, Exotic Pets, Penguin facts, Plane Safety Demo, Quiz Show Host, Fantasy creatures, Harry Potter or Marvel Fan video, Shark Safety, Unboxing, Medical advice, Making soft drinks,

No matter what the style is though, learners will be able to develop their presenting skills and speaking confidence for presenting things like school presentations, future YouTube channels, competitions/festivals, and future real TV shows etc. They can also improve their Public Speaking, or even how they present themselves for future job interviews.

For example:
-pretending to be Weather Presenters (we could explore our use of vocal color, and gestures),
-pretending to be Scientific/Astronomy/Chemistry Presenters (we could explore our use of clarity, stillness, and having a formal style),
-pretending to be Baking/Cookery Presenters (we could explore our use of pauses, good eye contact, and having an informal style),
and pretending to be Sports Presenters (we could explore the use of increasing pace to match the action and injecting enthusiasm into our speaking),

Each class will start with some voice warm-ups, including a fun tongue twister which is especially linked to our theme that week. Then we'll explore presenting a short piece of script (presented in the chatbox) using activities and techniques to help us sound like that week's presenting style. With Mrs. T showing a fun green screen background to fit the theme, learners will get to feel a bit like they are creating a real TV show or YouTube channel video.

At the end of the class, learners will often be able to create their own creative version of the script in the same presenting style (such as reporting on food weather, baking with non-food ingredients, their own top gaming tips, or a nature script for finding fantasy creatures, etc). They can let their imaginations go wild and learn to use the tips from that week's class to present them. All learners will receive on-the-spot feedback on what they are doing well and how to improve throughout the class.

I am an experienced Radio/TV/Live/Video/Events/Online Presenter, Tutor, YouTuber, and Storyteller who has picked up lots of ideas, tips, and techniques about how to present herself. The fact that I started life as a very quiet child proves that they really work too.

This class is also available in a 1:1 format should your learner want a more personalized coaching experience. Please message me to book your 1:1 session.
