Class Experience

Looking for a fun and creative way for your learner to build their public speaking skills and confidence?

or

Maybe your learner has dreams about being a TV or Radio presenter, YouTube host, or professional speaker?

In this weekly class, learners can develop their public speaking/presenting skills and speaking confidence in a fun way, by getting to pretend to be a different type of TV, Radio, or YouTube presenter each week.

We will start with a voice warm-up/exercise, including a fun tongue twister, which is linked to our presenting theme for that week. Then we'll explore presenting short paragraphs of realistic script, shared on screen in a large, dyslexic-friendly font creating a teleprompter effect. Just like real presenters use!

Using activities and techniques Mrs. T will then help each learner sound (and act) like that week's presenting style. With her fun green screen backgrounds to fit the theme, learners will get to feel a bit like they are presenting a real TV/Radio show, or YouTube channel video, whilst developing their public speaking skills and confidence. As they are working with realistic scripts they will often learn facts, safety information, and advice as a bonus too!

Learners will also often have opportunities to add in their own ideas, or create their own bits of scripts too.

We will swap what style we look at each week and it is always a learner who takes a turn to choose which style of presenting we will explore next, choosing from areas such as:
News, Nature, Science, Book reviews, Weather, Arts & Crafts, Movies, Gaming Tips, Sports, Radio, Sales Pitch, Baking, Children’s, Vets Advice, Quiz Show Host, Fan video, Unboxing, Medical advice...... or something new.

No matter what the presenting style, learners will learn a key public speaking skill that will get them ready for presenting other things like school presentations, speeches, poems, storytelling or taking part in discussions, their own future YouTube channel, prepare them for speech competitions/festivals, and future jobs etc.
For example:
-pretending to be Baking Presenters, we will explore what is vocal color and how to use it to make us sound more engaging,
-pretending to be Scientific Presenters, we will explore why pauses are really important to get information across clearly,
-pretending to be Sports Presenters, we will explore the use of increasing pace to match the action, and inject enthusiasm into our speaking,

This class is kept deliberately small at 6, so all learners have chance to take an active part. All learners will receive on-the-spot feedback on what they are doing well and tips of how to improve throughout the class too.

Each piece of script will be modeled by Mrs. T an experienced Radio / TV / Live / Video / Events / Online Presenter, Tutor, YouTuber, Content Creator, and Storyteller who has picked up lots of ideas, tips, and techniques about how to present yourself. The fact that she herself started life as a very quiet child proves that they really work too.

*This class is also available in a 1:1 format should your learner want a more personalized coaching experience. Please message me to book your 1:1 session.
