Present Like a Pro- Improve Your Public Speaking Skills and Confidence
Class Experience
Intermediate Level
Each week learners will develop their public speaking/presenting skills and speaking confidence in a fun way, by pretending to be different TV or YouTube presenters. Learners get to take it in turns to choose which style of presenting we will explore next. The list grows all the time, but learners can choose from areas such as: News, Nature/National Geographic, Science, Space/Astronomy, Chemistry, Mathematics, Lifeguard, Giving instructions, Weather, Arts, Crafts, Movies, Gaming Tips-...
- Learners will learn how to present themselves more professionally and confidently through tips, techniques, and personal anecdotes from a presenter who has worked across many forms of media.
I have worked as a live presenter (events, theme parks, holiday camps, and hotels), on TV, and as a radio presenter. I have also recently branched into creating and presenting drama teaching videos, and YouTubing. I am a fully qualified teacher (BAPA, PGCE) with 16+ years of experience teaching Drama (and some Music, PSHCE, and English) in bricks and mortar schools, where I currently still teach part-time, including running small group and 1:1 confidence-building workshops. I also have many years of experience leading community workshop schemes (like create a play in a week) and local drama groups for ages 4 to 16. As a professional actress, I've performed to children from ages 2-14 in theatres, arts centres, social clubs, historical properties, nurseries, and schools. Playing roles such as the Gingerbread man and a tortoise, to a wartime headmistress and Queen Elizabeth the first! With lots of Q & A and interactive workshops along the way. I have produced and directed many productions (musicals and plays) as well, including some I have written myself.
Learners will need to be able to confidently read up to 2 paragraphs of text which will be presented in the chatbox. I am happy to help them pronounce any difficult words or new vocabulary though.
Please note that learners will need to be able to use the chat function in Zoom and be able to read up to 2 paragraphs of text comfortably to be able to access this class fully. I am happy to help with pronoucing words and new vocabulary as needed though.
