Description
Class Experience
In this fun and engaging lesson on measurements students will learn early math concepts about the difference between heavy and light objects and how to differentiate between the two. The students will learn to explain how they know an objects weight is heavy or light using sentence frames and tactile supports. They will observe a variety of objects to illustrate the comparison of heavy vs. light. This class helps to build on the early foundations of the mathematical concepts of measurements...
Students will be able to explain how they know whether an object measures heavy or light.
Students should practice their newly learned skills with their family after class to further review and solidify new concepts learned.
3 files available upon enrollmentStudents should have paper and crayons or pencil available. Printouts are also provided upon enrollment.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Throughout the lesson, students will be asked to think about the objects they are comparing using guiding questions: "Which is heavy?" "Which is light?" "How do you know?" "How can you check?" Students understanding will be assessed by their ability to differentiate between weights by noting their responses.
25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
