Description

Class Experience

Over the last two and a half years, I have delivered 9,000 English language lessons, aligned with Common Core Standards to students, ages 3-18, in the virtual classroom setting with the company VIPKID. More than three-quarters of those classes were with young learners aged students age 3-7. I have my TESOL certification as well as a B.S. In Organizational Leadership. I am a lifelong learner and often read different books and texts on early childhood development and learning. Currently, I am reading "The Most Important Year: Pre-Kindergarten and the Future of Our Children" by Suzanne Bouffard. It is a very compelling read.

Outside of education, have over a decade of acting and singing experience. I have performed as different princesses and other characters on stage and at children's parties and events. I have performed for thousands of children at my local children's theatre in roles such as "Nancy" from Oliver! My A.A. degree in Diversified Studies has a Theatre Arts emphasis and I have studied vocal performance for over 12 years.

I think combining my teaching experience with my acting skills will make a very memorable and productive preschool experience for students. I am so excited to share my passion for education and make-believe with them. I have a lot of fun ideas to get your children excited to learn!

Worksheets will be provided on Sunday for the following week's class. If any art or craft material is needed we you will also be informed on Sunday. Worksheets can be printed or the child may use a whiteboard or paper as an alternative. All worksheets and supplies are optional. But for an optimal learning atmosphere the learner should have the following: Paper Crayons Safety Scissors (with parent's assistance) Glue Stick Fun Dough Something Small to Count to 20 Worksheets Whiteboard and Marker If for any reason your learner does not have supplies during the lesson it is okay. I will tailor the lessons to each learner's needs as we move through the lesson. (Please be aware that play-doh/fun dough may contain wheat. If your child is sensitive to wheat they are welcome to use clay or any other child-friendly alternative.)
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
I believe every parent knows their child best, so it is up to the parent to decide if the child needs parental supervision for the entire class. You are welcome to assist your child during class if you wish. This is what I recommended with learners 4 and under.

If you feel your child is capable of working independently you can step away for most of the class. If safety scissors are being used for a class, I ask that an adult be present to assist or supervise. We will also do some arts and crafts that may need some setup and assistance.

You will be informed the Sunday before the class if we recommend adult help for a project.

Please be aware that play-doh/fun dough may contain wheat. If your child is sensitive to wheat they are welcome to use clay or any other child-friendly alternative.

About Me

Once upon a time, a little girl stood in front of her imaginary blackboard giving lessons to her stuffed animals. As her mother watched her teaching her furry friends, she knew her daughter was fated to be a teacher. As mothers often are, she was...
