Class Experience

In this one-time Preschool story time class, Learners will listen to a read-aloud of “The Cat in the Hat” by Dr. Seuss and play Roll and Cover. After the Welcome and Hello Songs, Learners will listen to the story: “The Cat in the Hat” by Dr. Seuss where The Cat in the Hat makes mischief on a rainy day. This will be followed by a math game called “Roll and Cover.” Learners will have a game board that has “Cat in the Hat” hats with the numbers one through 6 on it. Learners will take turns rolling the dice and calling out the number on the dice. Learners will cover or circle that number each time it appears on their card until all six numbers are covered. We will close with our Dr. Seuss song (S-E-U-S-S), seasonal songs, and the Goodbye song.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I am passionate about early childhood literacy and literacy has always been an integral part of my classroom. I have seven years teaching experience with preschool-aged children. I hold a Professional Educators license with endorsements in Early Childhood and Elementary Education and a concentration in Reading and Language Arts. I will be doing focused story times often integrating reading with math, science, and social studies. I will also be doing “double features” which feature two books that are the same in some way: topic, author, or series. My favorite is reading a fiction and non-fiction book on the same topic. This is a fun way to introduce young readers to non-fiction. My classes are interactive with songs and games. I enjoy traveling and going to museums and plays.
