In this one-time Preschool story time class, learners will listen to a read-aloud of the book: “There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Clover” by Lucille Colandro followed by the game “Roll and Cover.” Learners need to print a game board from the class page. (Please print 2 copies.) The game board features the Old Lady, some of the things she swallowed, and the numbers one through six. Learners will take turns rolling the dice and calling out the number on the dice. Learners will circle the number each time it appears on the board until we have circled all the numbers from one to six. We will close with Saint Patrick Day songs (e.g., 5 Little Shamrocks and the color song “The Rainbow Song”) and the Goodbye song.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am passionate about early childhood literacy and literacy has always been an integral part of my classroom. I have seven years teaching experience with preschool-aged children. I hold a Professional Educators license with endorsements in Early Childhood and Elementary Education and a concentration in Reading and Language Arts. I will be doing focused story times often integrating reading with math, science, and social studies. I will also be doing “double features” which feature two books that are the same in some way: topic, author, or series. My favorite is reading a fiction and non-fiction book on the same topic. This is a fun way to introduce young readers to non-fiction. My classes are interactive with songs and games. I enjoy traveling and going to museums and plays.
