🍎 Welcome to class! 🍎 In our class, learners work hard to increase their knowledge in preschool and kindergarten level readiness skills. Class is comprised of 26 weeks of unique lessons. Lessons are taught through the use of interactive and informative slides. We work on all subject areas (reading, writing, math, science, social studies, and life skills). Learners may join at any time, without any prior knowledge. The main class objective is to make learning engaging and fun for early learners while creating positive educational experiences. Class sizes are intentionally kept small to allow for increased attention, interaction, and engagement. Learning Goals
In reading, students will:
-Build accuracy recognizing letters and their sounds through corresponding sounds
-Build comprehension skills by listening to and responding to stories
-Begin identifying high frequency sight words
-Build fine motor skills
In math, students will:
-Build accuracy identifying numbers
-Build number correspondence skills
-Learn fundamental skills like repeating patterns, basic addition and subtraction, beginning fractions
In science and social studies, students will learn about various topics including:
-Animal habitats and life cycles
-Weather and seasons
-Plant life cycle
-The solar system
-The five senses
-Community helpers
-Wants and needs
-Geography
For life skills, students will:
-Build self-confidence
-Practice effective social/conversation skills and turn-taking

Parental Guidance
Parental guidance may be needed to assist learners with muting or unmuting themselves, and possibly completing hands-on tasks.
Supply List
Learners will need two index cards each week for our letter and sight word of the week, which will create their own set of flashcards to practice with. If any craft supplies or worksheets are needed, parents will be notified a week ahead of class in preparation.

Hello! My name is Mrs. Castilla (Mrs. C). I have always enjoyed academics, reading, and crafting and I believe teaching is a great way to combine all of my passions. I believe that active, engaged learning is very beneficial to children beginning at a young age.
I have a B.A. degree as well as a special education teacher license for grades K-12 . I have over 15 years experience teaching children in various educational settings including preschool in childcare centers, Prek-5 in public elementary schools, as well virtual education for elementary aged learners. I have taught special education (adaptive curriculum) in all subject areas and have been trained in sensory integration, alternate assessments, data collection, and project-based learning.
I am proud to be recognized as an Outschool ACE Educator and truly elated to provide authentic, quality, and engaging lessons here on Outschool!
