Could your young Spanish-speaker benefit from practice with numbers? In this class designed for young children who are already advanced* in Spanish, we will have fun with math through games, stories, and songs. Kids who have not yet mastered either counting, number recognition, or adding up to ten are welcome to attend to practice these skills! Our number stories also sometimes incorporate concepts like multiplication, division, fractions, etc., while working with these small numbers in a concrete and practical way. Learners are not expected to have previous experience with those concepts. The teacher will work to foster a welcoming environment, challenging all students to do their personal best and be supportive of others in the process. The teacher will encourage the use of Spanish by speaking in 95-100% Spanish, but the focus will be on our activities together rather than Spanish instruction. This is our weekly class plan: 1. Welcome 2. Sing a numbers song 3. Interact in a number story 4. Play a number game 5. Sing a closing numbers song These are our themes for the summer section: Week of June 13 - Class 1 - Perros, Class 2 - Espacio Week of June 20 - Class 1 - Monstruos, Class 2 - Mariposas Week of June 27 - Class 1 - Pollitos, Class 2 - Osos Week of July 4 - Class 1 - Dinosaurios, Class 2 - Helados Week of July 11 - Class 1 - Ovejas, Class 2 - Globos Week of July 18 - Class 1 - Monos, Class 2 - Conejos These are our themes for the beginning of the fall: Week of August 8 - Class 1 - Patitos, Class 2 - Pizza Week of August 15 - Class 1 - Elefantes, Class 2 - Pasteles Week of August 22 - Class 1 - Carros, Class 2 - Fruta Week of August 29 - Class 1 - Perros, Class 2 - Espacio We will often change up our songs, games, and stories for variance, but we will also bring back previous ones for repetition. This class may be combined with the once weekly version for a three-times-a-week experience! *These students may be--for example--heritage speakers, children who have attended an immersion preschool, or "life-time speakers" with a parent or caregiver who has spoken to them in Spanish since infancy.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I received a minor in the Spanish language with my bachelor degree (2011). Later, I went on to complete the seven-week level 5 Spanish course at Roca Blanca Spanish School in Catalotepec, Mexico (2018). I have taught group Spanish classes to a variety of ages over a span of five years, four years of which were online. In 2018-2019, I led a preschool co-op in Spanish, primarily to children who were already fluent. Additionally, I have been raising my children primarily in Spanish since 2016.
