Hello parents and learners! Thank you for checking out my class! Here is what you can expect: My focus during this class will be on the whole development of the child (physical, cognitive, social/emotional). While the focus of this class will be on literacy, phonics, and writing skills, I will also be incorporating some early math as well. Some of the different skills we will be learning in class are letters (with a letter of the day), letter sounds, letter recognition, and pre/early writing skills. We will also be doing and introduction to charting/graphing to incorporate some math as well! The teaching style I use is a combination of teacher-lead and child-lead learning experiences. While I have a plan and direction for class, the curriculum is meant to be adaptable to the learners' engagement and interest. This means that I will teach other topics and skills as they come up in class. An activity may be extended or shortened depending on the interest and engagement of learners. Below is an overview of the class. Please note, that all of these activities may not be included in this class. Activities will be based on the engagement, interests, and level of development of learners. Also, please note that every activity can be modified in class to fit the developmental needs of your learner. You will also see that many activities will overlap into other areas of development. This curriculum is intentionally created this way so that your learner gets the most out this class. 😊Social/Emotional Development: I like to begin each class by greeting my learners and asking them about their morning and something fun they have done over the last couple days. Throughout class I will stimulate and encourage conversation about what learners are doing and what their interests are. I will also lead learners in making connections in class that relate to real-life experiences they have had with all conversations relating to the social/emotional development of the learner. ✋Physical Development: Writing and drawing (fine motor) 🧠Cognitive Development: Here's the activities we will be doing in this class! ✏️Pre/Early Writing- ✔️Letter Picture Map: Learners will choose a letter of the day. We will practice writing this letter and saying the letter sound. We will also draw pictures of items we know that begin with that letter. ✔️ Art: Drawing a Christmas tree for pre-writing practice 🔤Literacy/Phonics- ✔️ Letter Recognition Game: Learners will find the hidden Christmas tree in plastic eggs by choosing a letter that is written on the egg. Learners will also practice letter sounds with this game. 🔢 Math- ✔️Rainbow Letter Chart: Learners will choose colored letter dice to roll. We will practice making a chart with like colors and letters as introduction to charting/graphing. 🔹Here are a few other things to note about my class:🔹 -We will be doing drawing and writing during class. Please have a whiteboard and/or paper, as well as crayons and other writing tools available for your learner to use during class. -I will mute all students when needed to minimize background noise. Please make sure your learner either knows how to mute/unmute themselves, or I ask that you be near-by so you can help them with this. -All of the activities I do during class can be modified to meet individual learner needs and I will do so accordingly. However, if you feel your learner still needs a little extra help, feel free to step in! I love when parents partner with me in the learning experience! I am so excited to meet your learner in class!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Education from Ashford University
Hello! I'm Cassandra Dayrit, but most people call me Casey. I have a BA degree in Child Development from Ashford University. I have about three years of preschool teaching experience in a classroom, as well as two years of teaching experience as a virtual ESL teacher.
In addition to my traditional teaching experience, I am also in my seventh year homeschooling my three children. I began homeschooling when my oldest (who is now 11 years old) started Kindergarten. Through my education, classroom experience, and homeschooling experience, I have become well-versed in teaching a variety of subjects to a wide range of ages and levels of development. I have learned how to quickly adapt and customize curriculum on the spot to be inclusive to all children in a group, but also still meet individual needs.
Teaching, especially teaching preschool, is something I am very passionate about. I love seeing children make connections about the world around them and being a part of that. I believe in learning through play and real-life experiences. I also believe that teaching should be both teacher-lead and child-lead. When teachers lead, and also allow space for children to also lead through engagement and their interests, the learning process becomes more of a team effort. So many connections can be made which makes their learning experience so much more enjoyable and memorable.
I have been married to my husband for 13 years and together we have three children (all boys!). When I'm not teaching, I enjoy going to church, hiking, and spending time with my family and friends.
I look forward to seeing your child in the classroom!
