US Grade Preschool - Kindergarten
Are you looking for your young learner to become a strong, fluent, and confident reader? Join us for a fun preschool and early elementary literacy course focusing on phonemic awareness, beginning reading skills, letter recognition, blending, and much more with a licensed reading teacher. Each week, your student will work to master the alphabet as they learn to identify new letters and their sounds using a multi-sensory approach and engaging strategies. Songs, stories, manipulatives, rhymes, games and movement actives are sure to keep your student smiling and growing during this gentle, and enjoyable literacy class. As an added bonus, to help support your student’s continued learning at home, I will provide you with a carefully curated weekly newsletter filled with read aloud books lists, activities, and resources. I will use the Learning Dynamics System as a tool to support your student's reading. This nationally recognized program helps students develop language and comprehension skills. The phonics methodology systematically introduces the letters of the alphabet to students in a way that is manageable and enjoyable. Better yet, it is backed by university research and claims a 98% success rate. Imagine your young child starting school and already being able to read. What a gift! What to Expect- Each week, we will cover two letters. The phonics work, phonemic awareness, and class activity will vary each class. In class 1, we begin introducing or reviewing letters with the letter M. By class 4, we will begin to blend sounds and read words! After class 8, with 8 letters in their toolbox, the students can read their first book! Students will have explicit instruction on blending sounds together. As we add an additional letter each week, students gain an understanding of how individual letter sounds, phonemes, fit together to create words. Phonemic awareness training is an essential and foundational part of the literacy that provides students with skills and strategies that support their decoding and reading. To build phonemic awareness, students will spend time each class focusing on phonemes in words and identifying how words are similar and different. Sight words will be introduced to support students’ fluency and confidence in reading.
