Beginner Level
In this class, students will follow a circle-time format in French. This class is for beginners, but I will be speaking French to students as much as possible. I may also interject a few English phrases depending on the situation and to get some interaction. Each week will have an overarching theme and follow a similar pattern: Greetings: We will sing a hello song, and I will help students introduce their names Calendar time: we will sing about the days of the week and months of the year in French. We will also sing a counting song. Learning: We will practice important skills like the alphabet, colors, and numbers using songs, stories, and more. Activity/Play time: Students will complete an activity relating to the theme of the week. Activities may include: stories, modeling dough, drawing, or playing. Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been learning French for 9 years now, from French 1 - French 5 as well as 4 years of immersion French classes. I am conversationally fluent and at a B2 level. I have tutored French immersion from May 2020 through August 2020 when the French immersion school near us closed for quarantine, and I've been teaching French online for three years total.
I also continue to take French lessons with native speakers, and I am working towards my Bachelors in French, which includes classes in advanced French immersion, French literature, and French education. I attended a 7-week summer French immersion camp through Middlebury College.
I also have my certification in TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language), the principles from which I apply to my French classes.
