Class Experience

In this one time class we will listen and act out the story of the Wide Mouth Frog. We will also chant, sing and learn fingerplays. Finger plays offer young children a musisensory learning experience. Finger plays helps children learn language by increasing vocabulary, learning the sounds of words and hearing the rhythm of language. They stimulate auditory, visual, and tactile senses. Fingerplays are also a form of kinesthetic learning, as the students are encouraged to enjoy movement while participating in them and use their imagination . Come to circle time with me as we learn about: 5 Little Monkeys, Itsy Bitsy Spider, The finger family and I'm Bringing home a baby bumble bee.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, I’m Ms. Melinda and I can hardly wait to meet you! For the last 30 years I have put my heart and soul into being a teacher and I would absolutely love to have you in my class. Keep an eye open for my courses in these subjects: Early Phonics, Book Clubs, Circle Time Learning, Math with the calendar, reading comprehension, learning with math games and writing club. I received my Bachelor of Education degree in 1987 from the University of Memphis, with a major Early Childhood Education. Later I received my Masters degree in curriculum and instruction. I have taught literally thousands of K-3 students. I teach in a public school in my hometown in Tennessee. I have raised five wonderful children of my own. They are teachers, preachers and lawyers. We are waiting on the youngest to finish med school. I also have six grandkids with one more one the way. I specialize in early childhood math and reading but also teach ESL classes. I have trained fellow teachers on the best practices of teaching writing to young learners. I am high energy and animated and this holds young learners attention. I believe every child is valuable, intelligent, creative, and special. My goal is for each one of my students to experience success and feel encouraged to continue his or her unique learning journey. My favorite activities are reading, traveling and spending time with my family. I hope to see you soon in my classroom where all are welcome and learning is fun.
