What's included
2 live meetings
1 in-class hours per weekClass Experience
We will open the class by taking turns going around and introducing ourselves. This builds both language and listening skills. Then we will look at the calendar. We will review the month, day, date, and year. When the students are ready, we will also discuss the season and practice patterns with either colors or shapes. The teacher will read a short story and the class will discuss it. We will learn to find the title, author, and the parts of a book. We will learn about characters, settings, and try to predict what will happen next. These are all literacy concepts that promote excitement and confidence in pre-readers and early readers. A few of the books will be a rebus or repetitive so the kids will "read" along with the teacher. Topics will be based on season. For example: January - winter and fairy tales, February - love and families, March - spring and farms, April - wild animals on land and sea, etc.
