Welcome learners and families! The format of this fun class for young learners will mimic “circle time” from typical pre-school and kindergarten curriculums. Upon arrival all students will be asked a fun “ice breaker” question which will allow students to begin to interact and get to know each other. I will briefly explain the classroom rules (take turns speaking, raise your hand to speak, using your mute and unmute button etc.) The content of the course will be taught through group discussion and some direct instruction. I will lead the group discussion and encourage students to contribute by answering questions. Class content: We will talk briefly about what a calendar is! Learners will be introduced to the concept of a day and week. I will use visual aids such as flash cards and a calendar to assist students’ learning. Together we sing a fun and simple song that will assist students in remembering the days of the week and their order. At the end of class we review our learning and talk about the calendar print out activity that the students can do with their caregivers to extend their learning. Prior knowledge: It is helpful (but not necessary) for learners to understand how to count to 7 on their fingers
