Come along with Miss Audrey as we go on adventures through a different story each week. Each week we will read a new story. We will start with a book walk to see what the book is about. Questions will be asked to assess student prior knowledge. We will then read and talk about two or three vocabulary words. These will be challenging words that the student will be able to learn and add to their vocabulary. Then teacher Audrey will read the story while the students draw a picture about what they are hearing. They will also be listening for the days vocabulary word. During our reading time, we will have comprehension checks and make predictions. At the end of the lesson, if time allows, we will share our picture and what we liked about the story. For each class student will need crayons, paper, and story time worksheet which is attached. Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, my name is Audrey, and I am so glad to be here and am excited to share a little about me. I love learning and teaching. Every day is a day to learn something new no matter how old we are.
I attended Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri earning a bachelors in elementary education with an emphasis in early child. I then went back to school and received my bachelor's in communication science disorders which allows me to be a speech therapist assistant.
✔️5 years substituting teaching
✔️1 year student teaching
✔️1 year kindergarten teacher
✔️1 year preschool teacher
✔️3 years ESL teacher for VipKid
✔️5 years homeschool tutor
My classes are developed to help students have the foundational skills to become lifelong learners. Also, there are classes that are developed to help students to build on their desires and passions, so they can meet their goals.
I believe every learner has the opportunity to learn if they have a good attitude and the right environment. The environment makes a big difference on the learner's attitude. In my classes, I always engage as many senses as possible, since research shows that stronger neural pathways are formed when more senses are engaged! Students also take control of their own learning by asking questions and sharing what they know.
I am more a facilitator and try help where is needed and ask engaging questions.
Some fun facts about me include a love for outdoors, spending time with family, and reading. Alex, my dog, looks like a fox. I always like to learn something new and now I am learning to play the piano.
